In the Fizeş Plain there are four nature reserves of national interest, declared successively since 1966, having the main aim of preserving bird species, particularly wetlands birds (Pike Lake, Legii Valley law, Sic Reedbeds and Ciuaşului Forest). On the matrix represented by these four nature reserves, the Natura 2000 site ROSPA0104 Fizeş Basin has been established, to protect birds of community importance for conservation. In the Plain Fizeş were also identified species of invertebrates, amphibians, plants and habitats of community importance for conservation that led to the designation of another Natura 2000 site: ROSCI0099 Pike Lake-Sic-Puini-Bonţida, comprising a heterogeneous landscape, partly modeled also by human activity, bringing together a mosaic of ecosystems: wetlands, woodland and meadows, salt marshes and dry grasslands.
The Natura 2000 site ROSCI0099 Pike Lake-Sic-Puini-Bonţida overlaps, on an area of 965.16 ha, with the Natura 2000 site ROSPA0104 Fizes Basin and completely with the nature reserves "Sic Reedbeds", "Legii Valley " and "Pike Lake".
The Natura 2000 site ROSPA0104 Fizeş Basin covers all four nature reserves, and, as a result, the nature reserves "Pike Lake", "Sic Reedbeds" and "Legii Valley" are superimposed with both Natura 2000 sites.
