The Natura 2000 site ROSCI0099 is composed of a varied landscape consisting mainly of semi-natural steppe grasslands with significant value in terms of biodiversity conservation, but also wetlands, wet grasslands, scrubs and forest ecosystems.
Forest ecosystems are fragmented, with low connectivity. The main tree species that builds these forests are hornbeam Carpinus betulus and sessile oak Quercus petraea. In these woodland the undergrowth consists of Corylus avellana, Cornus mas, Sambucus nigra, Ligustrum vulgare, Clematis vitalba and others. The herbaceous layer is dominated by species like Lamiastrum galeobdolon, Asarum europaeum, Hepatica nobilis, Polygonatum latifolium, Luzula luzuloides, Carex sylvatica, Glechoma hederacea, and plantations of conifers appear Agrimonia eupatoria, Poa nemoralis, Teucrium chamaedrys, Euphorbia cyparissias, Fragaria vesca and others.
Open ecosystems are mainly used for hay production. Most outstanding are the "islands" of feather grass.
